Santa Maria, CA – (January 15, 2013) —  USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series Director Chris Kearns has announced another change to the 2013 schedule. The June 15th race scheduled at Santa Maria Speedway has been moved to the following Saturday. New Santa Maria promoters Ruben and Katy Munoz are working on a website and more details on the June 22nd event will be released soon.
Earlier this week, Kearns announced two changes to upcoming schedule. With a date change at Hanford, plus an added show at Tulare, the Central Valley tracks will host a rare doubleheader in September. The “6th Annual Jim Turner Memorial” at Kings Speedway has been moved to Friday, September 20th. The following evening, Thunderbowl Raceway will host the “John Anthony Sharp Memorial.” Both dates could play a key role in the chase for the championship.
Starting on January 25th, Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Arizona will host the “2nd Annual Winter Challenge.” Also featuring IMCA Modifieds, more than $100,000 in total purses will be up for grabs at the non-point “Arizona Speed Week.” The co-sanctioned main events with the USAC Southwest Sprint Cars will pay at least $2,000-to-win, while the winner of the February 2nd finale will take home $5,000. For more details on the “Winter Challenge,” visit www.canyonspeedwaypark.com.
The USAC Western Awards Banquet will be held on February 9th at the Woodland Auto Display in Paso Robles. In addition to the West Coast Sprints, the USAC/CRA Sprints, Western Classic Sprints, Western Midgets, and Ignite Midgets will be honored. Tickets are $40 and everyone attending will get free admission to the Auto Collection Museum. Entries must be received by January 29th and forms can be found online at www.westcoastsprintcars.com/images/fpposter/121220banqet.jpg
