Tulsa, OK — (March 8, 2013) — For the fourth year, the Southern New Mexico Speedway will be the site of the nation’s highest paying event for 305cid Sprint Car racing.

The Southwest ASCS 305 Sprint Car Shootout is slated for March 15 and 16 at the Las Cruces, N.M. oval and gives a $1,000 prize for the winner of Friday’s opener before offering a $5,000 bounty to the winner of the Saturday finale.

A creation of Royal Jones, the event has grown by leaps and bounds, bringing in some of the top names in ASCS competition as Jeff Swindell, Jason Johnson, and Johnny Herrera have all competed with Swindell slated to return in for this year’s competition with Minks Motorsports.

Becoming the first repeat winner of the Southwest ASCS 305 Sprint Car Shootout, El Paso, Texas born John Carney II has two wins to his credit, including the inaugural event behind the wheel of the CSR Motorsports No. 3s KPC Chassis entry.

Carney’s victory in 2012 came in the Steward Builders No. 224 which will compete in a mixture of ASCS regional and 305 competition in 2013 in a scheduled that covers the Griffith Truck and Equipment ASCS Gulf South, American Bank of Okla. ASCS Sooner, and Smiley’s Racing Products ASCS Lone Star Regions.

Both nights of the fourth annual Southwest ASCS 305 Sprint Car Shootout begin at 6:30pm (MT) with gates opening at 5pm. Registration forms are available at http://www.snmspeedway.com.

Additional dates are forthcoming for the 2013 season with six nights so far confirmed for the southwest based series.

The 2013 season marks the twenty-second year of sanctioning Sprint Car racing for the American Sprint Car Series, which brings the best of Sprint Car racing to dozens of different tracks throughout the nation and into Canada. Anchored by the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series, ASCS also consists of nine different Regions throughout the nation.
