Tulsa, OK — (March 25, 2013) – When the Oil Capital Racing Series sprint cars hits the arena of the Brill Motor Speedway in Meeker Oklahoma this Saturday night at 7pm, it will have been 189 days since the sprinters last competed on the bullrings of the central plains. There’s been a lot of chatter over the winter about what to expect. Now, its time to strap in and “Walk the Walk”.

The OCRS warriors will start the season at Brill Motor Speedway “Old School Style” as the series opens their 12th season without wings where the drivers have to pitch the cars in the corners and “set it” with precision and skill then stomp on the throttle to drive off the corners. The buzz amongst racers and fans alike has been nothing but high voltage. It’s been so electric that OCRS has been fielding inquiries from teams that have yet to run with the series. OCRS regular Kyle Clark had this to say at a recent test session: “I think the non-wing deal just sets us (OCRS) apart from everyone else. I think it will bring a lot more cars and I think it will be a whole lot better for our series (for brand awareness)” said Clark.

A solid crop of sponsors have come to the calling of OCRS to support the non-wing season opener and the other non-wing events that will follow over the course of the year. These sponsors have provided an extra boost to an already growing series and it further establishes OCRS as a viable sprint car series in the region. It’s because of these gracious supporters that OCRS has developed a separate point fund for the non-wing races alone with the top bean counter bagging an extra $1,000 for their efforts. The pay will also involve positions 2-5 in the non-wing points tally.

Series Record $204,800 Up For The Taking!

OCRS teams will compete for an ALL-TIME cash record of $204,800 per the 27-race schedule set in place for the new season. This is CASH alone (before product contingencies), which only adds to the rewards of the OCRS series. “I want to say this in the most modest way I can,” said OCRS president Barry Grabel, “To have come from a warm-up class for the 410 sprint cars a few years ago to this point is just amazing. The fans, the race teams and the promoters that choose to be a part of this growth only sets us up for bigger and better things down the road. We foresee a really exciting 2013 season.”

The Drivers Are Hungry For Speed

A solid field of drivers are chomping at the bit to get into their 1500-pound projectile missiles and “Hammer Down”. Some of the drivers expected to compete this weekend are:

Four time OCRS champion Jamie Passmore, The Caretaker – Danny Smith, Whit “Gasman” Gastineau, Joe Wood Jr, Alex “The Jet” Sewell, The Lindsay Flash – Harli White, Johnny “Hotrod” Kent, Matt “The Mongoose” Sherrell, “Lightning” Layne Himebaugh, Fred Mattox, Kyle Clark, Brian McClelland, Michael Bookout, Alex DeCamp, Kerry McAlester, Kip Hughes, Chance Morton, Kade Morton, Cody Brewer and more!
