With the World of Outlaws race in Calistoga, CA being cancelled, Kyle Hirst and his Roth Motorsports team elected to put their 360ci engine in their machine and proceeded to score a second place finish at the Kings Speedway on Saturday night, one night after charging to ninth with the World of Outlaws.

Taking part in the Rebel Cup series opener on Saturday night, Hirst laid down the ninth quickest lap during qualifications, putting him in the second row of his heat race.

Wasting no time in his heat, Hirst had his elbows up and quickly grabbed the lead in his Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle machine, and went on to win the heat race.

With a few faster qualifiers not making it out of their heats, Hirst would find himself on the pole of the 30-lap feature alongside Brian Brown.

As the green flew, it was Brown getting the jump over Hirst, but the Sacramento, CA driver stayed glued to his rear bumper.

A couple of early cautions slowed the pace of the race, but Hirst was unable to capitalize on a few restarts, and stayed in second, stalking Brown.

In traffic, Hirst would close in on him, but was unable to do anything with the leader and settled for second at the stripe.

“It’s been a while since we were able to contend for a win, and that felt good,” he said. “Brian Brown was really good on the open track, and we couldn’t chase him down. In traffic we could close in on him, but he was just a better than us.”

Friday night, Hirst and his Roth Motorsports team were in action against the World of Outlaws at the Antioch Speedway.

Timing in eight quickest, Hirst would finish fourth in his heat and start the feature event in the seventh row.

On what was a fast track, and allowed a little passing in the feature event, Hirst was able to put on easily the best charge of the night, as he worked his way from the 14th spot, to a ninth place finish.

“Overall it was a great weekend, and I can’t thank my Roth Motorsports team enough,” he said. “They have given me a great car every night out, and I feel like this weekend I did my part and put our car where it needs to be on a nightly basis.”

Kyle and his Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance Center, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support.
