Kicking off his 2013 US season over the weekend, Shane Stewart hopped in the Indy Race Parts No. 10 for the weekend and had quite an interesting weekend, that was ultimately highlighted by a second place finish last night in Danville, IL with the MOWA.

With a pill draw being used to set heat race line ups, Stewart pulled high, and found himself starting seventh in heat.

Not deterred by his starting spot, Stewart had his elbows up as he ripped around the top of the speedway and muscled his way to the impressive heat win, and put his Indy Race Parts machine in the evening’s dash.

Starting fourth in the dash, Stewart used a strong start to moved around Kody Kinser as he took the second spot, and tried to chase down Jac Haudenschild, but came up short and settled for second.

Starting on the front row of the 25-lap feature event alongside Haudenschild, Stewart fell into the second spot on the start of the race, as he chased down the hall of Fame driver.

Though there were a handful of cautions through the event, Stewart could not get anything going to get around the leader, and settled for second.

On Saturday night, Shane was in action with the World of Outlaws at the Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN, and it was quite the eventful night.

Starting off in time-trials, Stewart’s throttle linkage broke, and he was relegated to 35th quick.

Starting in the back of his heat, Stewart finished seventh, and was forced to go through the C main.

Winning the C from the pole, Stewart transferred into the B, where he made contact with an infield tire, and got upside down, ending his night.

“I’m thankful we got back in the car Sunday, and redeemed ourselves,” Stewart said.
“We had a good car but Haud had a better one. Saturday was eventful. Anything that could go wrong, went wrong, but I have to thank all of these Indy Race Parts guys for giving me an opportunity.”

2013 BY THE NUMBERS- Starts-27, Wins-5, Top 5’s-12, Top 10’s-16.
