ABBOTTSTOWN, Pa. (April 23, 2013) – While last weekend produced only one event for Brent Marks, it was a physical weekend.
After rain washed out Friday’s race at Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg, Pa., Marks battled a tricky setup in a nonstop feature on Saturday at Lincoln Speedway.
“Last Saturday’s race was very physical for me,” he said. “I was fighting the car the whole race. We tried a couple of different things on our car the past two weeks and it just hasn’t panned out.”
Following Marks’ track-best sixth heat race victory this season and fifth in a row, he started the 25-lap main event on the outside of the fifth row. However, several laps into the feature, the ill-handling car jumped the cushion in turn two and headed toward the wall. Marks corralled the race car, but lost a half-dozen positions in the process.
“We just kind of went over the edge a little bit,” he said. “I really wanted a yellow (flag) to bunch everything back up.”
After falling to 14th, he gradually worked his way into the top 10 and rallied to finish ninth – his 10th top 10 of the season.
“It really wasn’t that good of a run for us, but we were just trying stuff,” he said. “It was a little bit of setup, a little bit of a chassis change. Just a little tweak on the geometry on the car. I think we’re going to go back to our normal deal.”
Marks returns to action this Friday with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions at Williams Grove Speedway and on Saturday at Lincoln Speedway, where he ranks third in the points standings.
