Though he came up short of winning the Dave Bradway Jr Memorial at the Silver Dollar Speedway, Kyle Hirst thrilled the crowd all weekend long as he scored a second place finish on Saturday night one night after charging from 14th to score a fourth place finish.

“This Roth Motorsports team is really in a groove right now,” Hirst said. “We have been on some very slick tracks the last few weeks, and have really been awesome.”

With Dave Bradway so close to his family before his passing, Hirst has always wanted to win the coveted race.

Timing in fourth fastest during qualifications on Saturday night, Hirst would score a third place finish in heat race action, locking himself into the feature event, and also into the dash based on his qualifying time.

Starting seventh in the dash, KH electrified the crowd as he put on a charge to the front aboard his Roth Enterprises/HR Livestock Transportation/3H Cattle backed entry.

Shooting up to the third spot, Hirst looked to be the man to beat heading into the 40-lap feature event.

Roaring to action when the green flag dropped, Hirst hooked up immediately in an entertaining battle with Andy Gregg and Jonathan Allard, as they battled for third through fifth.

Working the top in one and two, and rolling the bottom in three and four, Hirst was able to keep the duo within striking distance, as he held the third spot much of the race, despite their strongest efforts.

Working up to second running, Rico Abreu’s, rear bumper in traffic, Hirst was unable to get around him, as he threw everything he had at him.

Late in the race, Hirst would take over the second spot, as the race leader, Shane Stewart pulled into the infield with issues.

Unable to chase down Abreu over the final eight laps, Hirst found himself on the front stretch again with the King of the West Series.

“It’s awesome to see Rico win this race, though it’s a race I really want to win,” he said. “We were good in the dash, and I thought we would be pretty good in the feature, but Rico and Shane Stewart were just better.”

Friday night, KH put on a display for the Silver Dollar Speedway fans, as he charged his way from the back to a top five finish for the second week in a row on Friday night.

Qualifying 14th quickest, Hirst lined up in the 14th spot, and wasted to time moving forward as he jumped into the sixth spot in just two laps.

Continuing to work his way forward, Hirst actually worked into the second spot late, but a yellow negated the pass, and he ended up with a fourth place finish.

“Overall it was a great weekend for us,” he said. “To be a contender after starting 14th on Friday is an awesome feeling, and I can’t wait to get back in this thing next week.”

Kyle and his Roth Motorsports team would like to thank Roth Enterprises, HR Livestock Transportation, 3H Cattle, Mobil1, FK Rod Ends, Weld Wheels, Brown and Miller Racing Solutions, Kent Performance Center, Kaeding Performance, and Astro Titanium for their support.
