The 66th season for the United Racing Company sprint cars has officially begun with defending champion Robbie Stillwaggon of Burlington, NJ winning the opener at the Big Diamond Speedway.   Stillwaggon mastered the field in true championship style, starting fourteenth and patiently working his way to the lead.

The Rislone URC Sprint Series will continue with the next stop set for a return to the Fairgrounds of the Bedford Speedway in Bedford, PA.    This track is rich in history and first opened in 1936.  Many of the greatest names in dirt track  racing at one time or another, circling the big half-mile Bedford Speedway oval.    The Friday night, May 10 event will showcase the URC sprint cars joined by the Late Models, Late Model Sportsman, Semi Late Models, Pure Stocks and 4 Cylinders.   Gates will open at 5 PM,  warm-ups at 7 PM with racing getting underway at 7:30 PM.   Admission is $12, children 12 & under will be admitted free.   The GPS Address for Bedford Speedway is 702 West Pitt Street, Bedford, PA  15522.   Track  Promoter Joe Padula welcomes you to his Western Pennsylvania speed plant.

 

URC will have a second night of racing on Saturday night, May 11 when they invade the Selinsgrove Speedway for the Jack Gunn Memorial.  This will mark the eighth time the URC Sprints and 358 Sprints have joined forces for this event and to honor, one of the greatest racing promoters in the Northeast.    The main event will pay $3,500 to the winner and past winners include Blane Heimbach (2012, 2008, 2006), Shane Stewart (2011),  Trevor Lewis (2010, 2009) and Dave Calaman (2007).    The Selinsgrove Speedway, under the promotion of Charlie Paige remains one of the most well prepared track surfaces on the URC schedule.

 

For the traveling URC sprints, this two race weekend will offer two point race events towards the season long Rislone URC Championship Title.  Friday night at Bedford will be a regular point race for URC.  On Saturday night at Selinsgrove Speedway, it will be a regular or full  point race plus an incentive fifty appearance points.
