June Brings USAC Sprints To Port Royal Speedway

Port Royal, PA – (May 16, 2013) – Port Royal Speedway will host a pair of huge racing programs during the first week of June when Appalachian Mountain Dirt Late Model Speedweek visits the track on Tuesday, June 4 followed by the wingless USAC sprint cars on Saturday, June 8 in conjunction with EMMR/Penn Central Racing Reunion Honoree Night.

 

Both shows get underway at 7 pm.

 

The USAC show will be the third leg of the 2013 Eastern Storm tour by the USAC stars and just the second time in the long history of both USAC and Port Royal that the famed club will compete on the nationally known big half-mile.

 

The 30-lap USAC feature will pay a hefty $6,000 to win out of a total purse of nearly $30,000 that also offers $600 just to start the lucrative event.

 

The ARDC Midgets will join the USAC sprints for an open wheel double along with the pro stocks.

 

The annual EMMR/Penn Central Racing Reunion will take place as part of the program with dozens of restored antique racecars on display for the race with track time afforded as well.

 

The 2013 Port Royal Founder’s Awards will also be bestowed as part of the program.

 

Gates will open at 5 pm.

 

The June 4 Late Model Speedweek show will mark the return of the series to the oval after a one-year hiatus.

 

The 358-powered, limited late models will join the super lates for the stock car affair that promises to be one of the best events in the 2013 speedweek series and of the Port Royal season.

 

The Late Model Speedweek feature event will go 40-laps in distance, paying $5,000 to win and $300 just to start.

 

A banner field of super late models is expected to compete featuring national stars as well as local hot shots.
