Greenwood, NE —  (May 23, 2013)  — After a 10-year hiatus, the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series is returning to I-80 Speedway.

The high-banked track will host the premier sprint car series for the NAPA Auto Parts Outlaw Showdown on Sunday, June 9, for the first time since 2003.

“I think it’s one of the best sprint car tracks in the United States,” said Joey Saldana, who has family in the area. “It’s definitely an awesome track, an awesome facility. I love that track.

“It’s one of those tracks you can run the bottom and the top. You get two grooves and it always seemed to produce good racing.”

Saldana, who has roots in the Lincoln, Neb., area, has yet to win a World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series event at the fast track.

“I’ve never won there, but came really close,” he said. “It’s home for my family. I have a lot of relatives there that see me race.”

Mark Kinser won a series-best five times during the 15 races between 1995 and 2003. Danny Lasoski is second with three wins. Sammy Swindell and Steve Kinser are tied for the third-most with two wins each.

“We had a lot of good runs there,” Swindell said. “It was always a good track to run on. It was a fairly fast track that you had to be right on your marks.”

Craig Dollansky, Stevie Smith and Jac Haudenschild are also winners at I-80 Speedway.
