KOKOMO, Ind. (May 27, 2013) – Kokomo Speedway is a tight, quarter-mile bullring that rewards elbows-up racing.

So it’s no surprise that Kraig Kinser is fond of the semi-banked track, which hosts the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series on Wednesday, June 5.

“It’s a tight, small track,” he said. “You’ve got to be comfortable with cars all around you. There’s always a car right there.”

Kinser is more than comfortable at Kokomo Speedway – a facility located approximately two hours from his hometown of Bloomington. Not only will he get to sleep in his own bed the night before the race, which is like winning the lottery for a race car driver who travels the country, Kinser will be surrounded by his family and friends for the special midweek event.

“I don’t get too many opportunities to race in my home state anymore,” he said. “I take every opportunity. It’s still Hoosier territory and I like defending it.”

That’s exactly what Kinser did during last season’s lone World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series race at Kokomo Speedway. He led all but the first lap to pick up his first victory of the season, which ignited him to claim four wins in a 12-race span.

“It’s always helpful going back to a place you’ve had some success at,” said Kinser, who also earned his first career winged sprint car victory at Kokomo Speedway.

He is one of four World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series drivers to garner multiple wins at the track. His father, 20-time series champion Steve Kinser, owns a series-best six victories at Kokomo Speedway.

Sammy Swindell has claimed three wins and Stevie Smith won back-to-back races in 1992-93.
