June 4, 2013 – Brad Loyet and the Loyet Motorsports #o5 team had planned on a two-race weekend, highlighted by trips to Salina, Kansas and the Eagle Nationals in Nebraska.  Unfortunately, when Eagle Raceway flooded, the Lucas Oil ASCS National Series was left with Salina Speedway.  The Sunset Hills, Missouri driver checkered sixth there, and the team is regrouping this week, while weighing possible racing options.

The draw went well at Salina, with Brad on the pole of his heat race.  “It was a little slicker in the heat than I thought it was going to be, and we probably had the wrong left rear tire on the car,” he admits.  “I had a decent car, it just wasn’t good enough and we ended up falling back to third (behind Danny Lasoski and Brian Brown).  That put us tenth in points going into the feature.”

Starting outside row five in the main event meant he missed the redraw for the first four rows by two positions.  “Missing the redraw by a couple of spots with this deal is big, because you could be eighth in points and start on the pole, or first in points and start eighth,” says Brad.  “We were o.k. in the feature, but it’s always nice to start in the first three rows.”

Brad was one of the few cars to advance in his ride from tenth to sixth.  “There wasn’t a whole lot of passing in general,” he says.  “It seemed every time I got a car, it was on the start or a restart.  The more yellows I had, the better.  I was getting some good starts.  I was getting around the bottom really well…the guys in front of me just had more speed than me.”

This week, the team’s focus is on regrouping before the ASCS National Series kicks off again with their Speedweek beginning June 14.  “Meramec Heights Collision Center is putting a new body on my car this week,” says Brad.  “We’re also getting the semi repaired this week from the deer we hit after Grain Valley.  I’m not sure if we’ll be able to hit the road or not.  If we do, I know the Outlaws aren’t far away, or we may hit a local show.”
