June 3, 2013 – Kerry Madsen and the Keneric Racing #29 team will be busy this week with four races planned.  They are looking to carry the momentum of a sixth place finish at I-96 Speedway near Lake Odessa, Michigan last Saturday.  Things get started in Indiana Wednesday night at Kokomo Speedway.  Friday, the 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa will host the WoO before dates at Lakeside Speedway near Kansas City, Kansas on Saturday and the I-80 Speedway near Greenwood, Nebraska on Sunday.

Kerry would qualify 11th at I-96 Speedway Saturday night, putting him on the pole of a heat race.  He would win that before registering tenth in the Dash.  “Qualifying wasn’t great, but it was o.k.,” he says.  “It was better than some of our efforts have done.  The heat was pretty uneventful and we were able to win that.  To be honest, we weren’t very good in the Dash.”

The St. Mary’s, New South Wales driver made progress in the main event from his starting spot outside row five.  “We had a pretty good racecar really,” says Kerry.  “For whatever reason, it would take me two laps to get going.  I would get going pretty well at that point.”

A challenging track saw Kerry battling in the top five for a time.  “I was up to fifth at one stage, but on the last restart it didn’t go well and I lost a couple of spots,” he says.  “The cushion was pretty treacherous.  To get out of there starting tenth and running sixth…we’re pleased.  We’re not going to be happy running sixth every night, but the team’s going to keep working.  We’re on the right track.”

Probably more than anything, the team needs racing under their belts as they pursue another win in the Midwest this week.  “I’m pretty excited about our next four races,” says Kerry.  “We’re at Kokomo, then from Burlington to Kansas City to I-80…I haven’t been there forever.  I think we’ll be strong.  Every night is a new night.  We think we’re on the right track, and getting over that East Coast disaster.  A lot of things went well at I-96, and if we just keep it up, we’ll be fine.”
