410 SPRINTS AND MODIFIED DOUBLE-HEADER SHOWCASE JULY 2

Grandview Speedway

From Bob Miller

The NAPA Auto Parts Thunder on the Hill Racing Series will return to the Grandview Speedway on Tuesday night, July 2 with the Pennsylvania 410 Sprint Speed Week Series in a double header with the 358 Modifieds.   Gates will open at 5 PM with race time set for 7:30 PM.   Sprint car time trials will open the program followed by heat race events for the modifieds and sprint cars.  Last chance qualifying will be offered for the 410 sprints and modifieds all leading up to the 35 lap $5,000 to win sprint feature and the $3,000 to win 25 lap modified feature.

Adult admission prices are $22, children 6-11 $10 and children 5 and under will be admitted for free.   The pit fee is $30 and a license is not required.

The one lap Grandview Speedway track record is once again at risk with time trials on the program.  The one lap track record is 11.433, set by Jeff Shepard on May 21, 2008.   It’s unusual that a track record will stand for over five years so its’ very likely that a new track record could be established.

Top drivers expected to be in the 410 sprint field include defending event winner Greg Hodnett, Lance Dewease, Fred Rahmer, “Double D” Danny Dietrich, Brian Montieth, Mark Smith,  Alan Krimes, Ryan Smith, Brent Marks,   Danny Sammons and   Logan Schuchart, just to name a few.   In the modifieds, Duane Howard will be a favorite along with Doug Manmiller, Frank Cozze, Craig VonDohren and  Craig Hirthler.

A $500 cash bonus is posted by MACH 1 Chassis in Mechanicsburg.  A $500 bonus will be awarded to the driver that has the best combined finished between the July 2 second 410 sprint show and the June 5 USAC event at Grandview.   Mach 1 Chassis maintains a large inventory of open wheel parts and accessories at their Mechanicsburg, PA shop.  They inventory enough parts and products to essentially a complete race-ready roller.  Mach 1 fabricates many parts in-house as well as serving as an authorized dealer for many of the sports leading manufacturers.  If they don’t have it, Mach 1 will get it for you!   Take a tour of the Mach 1 Shop by visiting www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8_tib553C4.   For more information, call Mach 1 at 570 898 8018 or visit the shop at  10 North Frederick Street  Mechanicsburg, PA.

Advance tickets are now on sale by calling 443 513 4456.   Please be sure to leave your name, a contact phone number and the number of tickets you need for the Tuesday, July 2nd event.   Tickets may be picked up on race night at the Will Call Window after 3:30 PM.   Advance ticket holders may enter the grandstands on race night at 4:30 PM.

Be sure to come out early and meet the Thunder Girls.  Thunder on the Hill will also arrange to have at least two race cars displayed at the main gate from 4 PM to 6 PM on race night.  Plenty of fun and games will again be planned with help from Jim Gallagher and GALCO Business Communications and our good friends at Lee Myles Transmission.
