Bechtelsville, PA — (June 13, 2013) — One of the most popular events of the season takes place at Grandview Speedway on Saturday, June 15th, when the URC sprint cars join with the NASCAR 358 Modifieds and the Blast from the Past Vintage Cars to produce a great tripleheader action card of racing.
Robbie Stillwagon and a host of other top URC sprint racers will be seen in action on the one-third-mile, banked clay oval and the sprint cars always produce some excitement at Grandview.
A very special part of the night will be when fans and racers get to remember the late Midge Miller. He passed away recently after spending many years as a racer and a URC official. He will be inducted into the URC Hall of Fame during the evening’s events.
Duane Howard will see if he can continue his domination of the NASCAR 358 Modified action as he tries for his sixth win in a row. The NASCAR point leader has been able to edge out six time track champion Craig VonDohren the last couple of Saturdays but things could change as VonDohren has been running very strong this season. There are a number of top talents that could be showing up in victory lane rather than Howard on Saturday night. Just added to the field of talents trying to beat Howard on Saturday is Ryan Godown. The New Egypt Speedway ace, a winner just about everywhere, has the night off at the Central Jersey racing facility and figures he will challenge the Grandview racers where he has been a big winner in the past.
Added to the special night of racing is the Blast from the Past Vintage cars that will give fans a chance to see the cars of the past in action for the first time as a part of the Saturday night show.
Kirsten Sowers, daughter of former sprint car racers Clay Sowers, will sing the National Anthem.
Adult admission is $25 while youngsters 6 through 12 get in for just $5 and under 6 are admitted free. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. and there is a meet and greet with three racers showing off their race cars. Racing gets the green at 7:30 p.m.
There will be a special Grandview Groove track magazine to remember Midge Miller and include four extra pages of photos and information on the URC sprint cars.
