Steven Tiner jumped at the chance to work with the Peterson Racing team in Montana over the weekend. Tiner had a great car both nights, and could taste victory, unfortunately things didn’t go his way, and he ended up with second, and third place finishes.

“I had a blast with all of the Peterson’s,” Tiner said. “They are a great group of people, and we had some fun racing together.”

Friday night, Tiner and company were in action at the Gallatin Speedway in Belgrade, MT, and Tiner had a fast hot rod early.

Pulling a high pill for his heat race, Tiner lined up his No.23N machine in the third row. When the race went green, the Elverta, CA native worked his way up to a second place finish, putting him fifth in the feature event.

Starting in the fifth position, Tiner got off to a slow start, as he hung around the fifth part during the early laps.

As laps began to click off, Tiner began coming into his own, as he started making his way to the lead pack. With just three laps to go, Tiner moved into the second spot, and chased after the race leader, but as Tiner got up to his bumper, the checkered flag was flying.

“We were coming on Friday night, I really didn’t even know the checkered was out,” he said. “The track was fun, and we had a really strong racecar.”

Heading to Billings, MT on Saturday night, Tiner drew much better for his heat, and put himself on the front row. Picking up heat race honors, Tiner lined up in the second row for the main event.

When the race got underway, Tiner shot up into the second spot, where he ran much of the race on the slick track.

With five to go, a restart put him on the leaders bumper, and Tiner quickly put a slide-job on him, and took the lead.

With the leader getting back by, Tiner went to the bottom of the speedway, but spun his tires just a bit, and slipped back to the third spot, where he would finish.

“We had a car that should of won the race on Saturday night, the driver just made an error,” he said. “I have to thank the whole family for the opportunity to get up here and race, I had a blast.”
