June 27, 2013 – A top ten at the I-94 Speedway topped the highlights for a weekend with Kerry Madsen and the Keneric Racing #29 team.  This weekend will be a busy one, starting tomorrow night at the LaSalle Speedway in Illinois, continuing in Wisconsin Saturday at Beaver Dam Raceway, and concluding Sunday at the Cedar Lake Speedway near New Richmond, Wisconsin.

The St. Mary’s, New South Wales racer enjoys going to the River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota, and that was the venue for the World of Outlaws on Friday.  “We qualified well, but we couldn’t advance a row in the heat (finishing fourth) to make the Dash,” says Kerry.  “That meant we’d start twelfth in the feature.”

A DNF caused by a mechanical gremlin was a disappointment.  “It looked like we were going to have a great car, and we ended up breaking a spark plug,” says Kerry.  “I tried to go for a while, but it really wasn’t working, so I had to stop.  When we warmed up, it was fine.  Then we came around for the start, and we had an issue straight away.   I must have run over something.”

The WoO visited a new venue for everyone…the I-94 Speedway in Fergus Falls, Minnesota on Saturdya.  “We got behind things a little in qualifying (13th), which put us out of the (heat) inversion (finishing fifth),” says Kerry.  “We started 13th and finished tenth.  I felt we had a better car than that.  I always felt I was going to pass someone, and it was hard to gain that spot.”

Kerry was impressed with the facility.  “It was a beautiful place, and a nice sized track,” he says.  “They redid the track before the feature.  I thought maybe if they left it, we would have had some good racing.  The way it was, there just wasn’t much passing.”

It was one of those races where the end came to quickly for the veteran.  “To start back there and run top ten makes it not a bad night,” says Kerry.  “You don’t want to run tenth, but we were right there with the others.  The checkered flag came quickly.  That’s always the way when you’re trying to pass someone.  When they are on you, the checkers can’t come quickly enough.”

The team is anticipating a great weekend and seeking another WoO win.  “We haven’t been to LaSalle in forever,” says Kerry.  “Beaver Dam and Cedar Lake are always bad racetracks.  I’m looking forward to the weekend.”
