Kevin Thomas Jr. charged into the lead on lap eleven and led the remainder of the 30 lap Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car feature Saturday night at Kokomo Speedway on the 2nd night of “Indiana Sprint Week”. Thomas was followed by Wes McIntyre, Dave Darland, Christopher Bell and Chris Windom.

Thomas started 8th and quickly moved forward as he battled with McIntyre. Lap six saw the red flew for the #73 of Ryan Bernal in turn two. He was not injured. Thomas battled with Chad Boespflug and Dave Darland and took that three wide skirmish after the green came back out.

Thomas was on a mission as he put distance between himself and the rest of the field with only McIntyre keeping Thomas in his sights in the late going.

Heat races were won by Jerry Coons Jr., Brady Short, Chad Boespflug and Shane Cottle. Chris Bell won the B main. Tyler Hewitt took a nasty tumble during the first heat and was transported to the hospital with a reported broken shoulder and ribs.
