Port Royal, PA — (August 1, 2013) —  Port Royal Speedway’s Living Legends Dream Race for 410 sprints honoring Todd Shaffer and Patty Beam this Saturday has grown a little bigger in stature and drawing power with the news that former Central Pa and World of Outlaws regular Lucas Wolfe will be competing.

Wolfe will take to the track behind the wheel of a Michael Heffner-owned No. 27 entry after debuting the car at Grandview Speedway on Tueasday evening.

The Mechanicsburg native spent the last several seasons piloting with the World of Outlaws series across the nation before pairing up with a team in the Midwest to run there locally in 2013.

That pairing recently parted however finding Wolfe back home and searching for a seat.

Also intending to attend the event in recognition of Living Legend honoree Patty Beam will be Mr. Don Leiby and his wife Wanda.

The Leiby’s Mobile Home Sales name was carried on the Beam Racing No. 88 for the better part of its nearly 30-year run in the region, most notably with Maynard Yingst and Shaffer as drivers.

Mr. Leiby is now one of the promoters at Lincoln Speedway but the couple will be visiting Port Royal for this special show.

Yingst’s widow Diane and his son Steven will also be attending the special race in Beam’s honor along with his brother David, who helped wrench the No. 88 for a good portion of the car’s run.

Shaffer’s noted mechanic Jim Russell will also be in attendance.

A fantastic field of sprint car teams is expected to assemble to vie for the lucrative Dream Race laurels.  No other area track is hosting the super sprints against the Port Royal event.

An autograph session with former Beam drivers and Shaffer owners along with NASCAR driver Dave Blaney is slated for underneath the grandstand between 5:30 and 6:15 pm.

Some $65,000 in purse money, contingency money and contingency prizes will be up for grabs at the event.

Gates open at 4:30 pm with racing slated for 7:30 pm.
