Ransomville, N.Y —  (August 2, 2013) — Chuck Hebing, the winningest driver in Patriot Sprint Tour history, entered Friday Night winless on 2013.  He decided to invade the Ransomville Speedway, where he had won a series-high three events, and it proved to be fruitful as he dominated the Patriot Sprint Tour A-Main to score the top prize.

Hebing, of Ontario, NY, led all nine laps of the PST event interupted by rain.  Rain showers stayed away from the 4/10-mile Niagara County Oval all afternoon and evening, but as nighttime fell on “The Big R”, so too did precipitation, halting what had the makings of a wild 25 lap event.

Hebing finished second in his heat race behind Bryan Howland, and then redrew the outside pole for the feature after Howland claimed the pole position.  As soon as heat race action was complete, it began to sprinkle and the decision was made to scrap the dash and jump right in to the feature 15 minutes later.

The quick turnaround did not seem to phase the “Cobra”, as he out dueled Howland in to turn one on the opening start.  With a lap complete, Steve Collins tagged the wall in turn one and came across the track and making contact with PST America point leader Scott Kreutter.  Collins would be done for the night and the damage to Kreutter’s No. 52 would hamper him to the point where he would fall a lap down.

On the restart, a car deep in the field and made contact with the orange cone placed at the start/finish line, kicking it down towards the infield.  As Hebing rode the rim around “The Big R” and began to dice through lapped traffic, the cone got kicked back in to the groove on lap eight and brought the field back under yellow flag conditions.

As the field restarted, so did the rain, and a lap later, the race would have to be stopped once again.  Eventually the teams would be forced to the pits.  After a 15-minute delay, they were brought back to the track but just as the signal was given to fire up the cars once again, the rain intensified and once again the teams would be sent to their trailers, this time for good.

Hebing and Howland paced the field the entire way, but one of the feel-good stories of the night was rookie Dave Just, who ran third at his hometown racetrack.  Tommy Wickham was also a headturner, as he ran up from 11th to 4th before slipping back to 6th on the final restart as Justin Barger and Jared Zimbardi got back by.

Adam Anderson was solid all night, as he was seventh.  Todd Hoddick, Brad Knab and Mitch Brown were also in the top 10.

A total of 20 sprints were in the pits, including Paul Habeck, who made his first PST start since the 2012 event at Ransomville when he broke his arm.
