Lebanon, IN — (August 24, 2013) —   In a race slowed by six yellow flags, Spencer Bayston led twice and, battled Jessica Bean and Clayton Gaines to finally pull away to take the 30-lap USSA Mel Kenyon Midget Series dirt show at US 24 Speedway August 24.

Bayston took the point for the first time on lap 3 when he passed Cole Fehr.  Gaines took advantage of a yellow on lap 7 to keep Bayston in sight and then ran him down to make the pass for the lead on lap 11.  Gaines opened up a lead while Bayston battled with Bean for the second spot.

After another yellow on lap 19, Bean took control of the bottom of the race track forcing Bayston to take to the cushion.  Bayston found speed on the topside and quickly caught up to Gaines, taking the top spot for good with a turn three and four outside pass.

Gaines led Bean, Cordy Horn and Travis Young to the checkers to fill the top five.

After a Labor Day Weekend break, the Mel Kenyon Midget Series will close out the dirt portion of the season on September 7 at US 24 Speedway.
