USAC Southwest Sprint Car point leaders R.J. Johnson and Charles Davis Jr. will lead the series back to Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek, Ariz. Saturday and each hopes to add another notch to his USAC Arizona victory belt.

Davis, who won one of the recent “non-point” Freedom Tour races in middle-America, has spurted to the all-time lead in terms of USAC victories in the Grand Canyon State and Johnson now trails by two in that category. Davis has 10 while Johnson’s total stands at eight.

Johnson has two Queen Creek wins so far this year, while Davis has one. Mike Martin, third in the current series standings, won the other Queen Creek race held this year.

Johnson’s point lead stands at 82 points and while his lead is not in jeopardy Saturday, this weekend’s race will obviously figure prominently into the championship battle.
