USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour winged sprint cars headline Tennessee National Raceway’s “Tennessee Fall Nationals”

September 7, 2013 – The Middle Tennessee 2013 racing season gets a shot of high speed adrenaline this weekend when the United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour winged outlaw sprint cars invade Tennessee National Raceway (formerly Hohenwald Motorsports) in Hohenwald, Tennessee on Saturday, September 14th at 7:00 pm during the inaugural Tennessee Fall Nationals weekend of speed. Two divisions of winged USCS sanctioned sprint cars headline an action-packed night of racing with a high speed USCS double-header at the 1/3 mile red clay oval located just off US Highway 412 and two miles west of Hohenwald, Tennessee. The USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters winged Outlaw style sprint cars and the www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series winged mini sprints are both in action on Saturday night. Both series add plenty of speed and power to the Saturday night event.

When the 700 horsepower, 1300 pound United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour winged sprint cars invade the speedway they are expected to step the racing tempo up with speeds near 120 miles per hour around the high-banked 1/3 mile clay oval. The USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour winged outlaw type sprint car drivers will contest a complete program of winged sprint car racing including, a dash for the top six cars from the previous event, qualifying heat races and main events. The evenings sprint car finale is a 30-lap main event paying $2000 to the winner and $300 to start the A-main event.

Drivers from at least six states are expected for the series 24th event of the season. Expected entries include the March 15, 2013 United Sprint Car Series Tennessee National Raceway feature winner, Derek Hagar from Marion, Arkansas who currently leads the USCS National and Mid South regional point standings. Also expected is 2010 USCS Tennessee National Raceway feature winner and 2012 USCS National sprint car Champion, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas who trials Hagar by a scant one point in the USCS Mid South regional point standings and 10-time United Sprint Car Series National Champion, Terry Gray from Bartlett, Tennessee. All three drivers were ranked among the top 32 drivers in the Nation in the 2012 National Sprint Car Hall of Fame 360 “Driver of the Year” rankings.

The www.rockauto.com USCS 600 Sprint Car Series mini sprint racers are expected to be the second quickest division to compete on the speedway on Saturday night. Their 800 pound winged race cars will reach speeds over 100 miles per hour as well. Drivers from five states are pre-entered for their portion of the event. Entries include defending and two-time series Champion, Bobby Zaiontz from Columbus, Mississippi and 2011 USCS 600 sprint Rookie of the Year, Sean Hosey from Clarksville, Tennessee who trials Zaiontz in the runner-up spot for this year’s title in the National standings. Hosey also trials Zaiontz in the Mid South regional series point standings by just 56 points. Also entered are two more very talented young drivers, 2012 USCS Rookie of the Year  18 year-old Tyler Price from Clarksville, Tennessee who is Hosey’s team-mate and current Rookie point’s leader, Brandon Taylor from Cumming Georgia who ranks fifth in the National point standings and is only thirteen years old.

The two winged USCS racing series are joined on the busy racing card by the Tennessee National Raceway Limited Late Models who will be racing for a cool $1000 to win their main event. The Limited Late Model division include cars from a wide range of rules including area Limited Late Models, 2-Barrel Late Models and GM Performance crate engine type Late Model race cars.

The speedway’s Mini Stock division drivers will be contesting their “Summer Shootout” Race #4 that pays double their regular purse with $700 going to the winner. The Modified Street and E-Mod divisions are also on the racing card with specials ($300 to win) of their own. The popular Dwarf Car division will also be racing for a $200 top prize.
