To start his night, Covington drew well in the heat draw as he lined his T&L Foundry/Triple X/Winters backed No.95 up in the second row of a very stacked heat.

With Jason Johnson getting the jump, Covington followed suit in the second spot, as the duo checked out, and Covington settled for second, putting his machine in the feature event.

With a ton of modified in the house for a big show for themselves, Covington and that ASCS drivers had quite the break with numerous races and track prep taking a huge chunk of the night, and they lined up for the feature at 3:30AM local time.

Lining up in the sixth row on a track that was still fairly tacky, and rutty from weather the night before, Covington was able to work his way inside the top-10, but with some damaged racecars at the shop, Covington checked up when he got into the rocky terrain, as he was also looking to gain points in the Lone Star Region.

When the race finally came to a close early Sunday morning, Covington crossed the stripe in the 12th spot, and gained a ton in the region, as the second place driver did not make the feature.
“We have a couple of torn up cars at the shop, and though we have another one on the way, I started driving a bit smarter once I got up into the ruts,” he said. “It was a long enough night as it was, and we weren’t going to win the race, so it was on my to be conservative, and that’s what I decided to do about halfway through the feature.”

Matt and his Covington Racing team would like to thank T&L Foundry, Triple X Chassis, Winters, Brodix, C.G. Martin Company, Factor 1 Racing, All-Star Performance, Outlaw Wings, Pro Shocks, DMI Components, Keizer Wheels, ButlerBuilt, Simpson Race Products, GME Steering, Wesmar Racing Engines, Bob Hurley RV, Eaton Industrial, Maxwell Industries, and Schoenfeld Headers for their support in 2013.
