Tulsa, OK — (January 17, 2014) — The Oil Capital Racing Series will make their first ever trip into the Lone Star state as officials of the Red River Speedway in Wichita Falls, Texas and the Tulsa Oklahoma based sprint car series have made an agreement to bring the popular touring series to the Red River Speedway on Friday May 30, 2014. This addition now gives OCRS 27 scheduled dates and for the first time in history, OCRS will compete in four states in a single season (OK, MO, KS, TX).

Through the end of the 2012 racing season, Red River Speedway was a ¼ mile asphalt oval. Track owner Craig Martin took over the facility in February of 2013 and instead of conducting racing events, Martin had the asphalt pulled up and converted the surface to dirt. Martin has selected Friday nights for his regular operation of which, 360 cubic inch powered ‘Champ Sprints’ will be a part of. “We will announce a track promoter soon;” said Martin. “With the amount of 360 sprint cars (champ sprints) in this area, it just seemed like the right fit for us. We are finalizing our complete schedule at this time and it should be out soon;” stated Martin.

“This is good news for all of us that are involved with the Champ Sprint class;” commented series president Barry Grabel. “Having another track in the region running Champ Sprints just bolsters our position and presence with our class or car. We anticipate that both Red River Speedway and OCRS will be a benefactor by working together. We are thrilled to have Red River Speedway on board with us as they begin a new journey in the racing arena.

The Red River Speedway date also gives OCRS a monthly record for events booked in a single month at seven, which is bookended by two double headers. The May 30th Red River event precedes a May 31st date at the Lawton Speedway. With Wichita Falls and Lawton separated by only 53 miles, race fans can get a full dose of sprint car excitement to close out the month of May.
There will be a doubleheader weekend that begins the busiest month in history that will take place on May 2nd at the Outlaw Motorsports Park in Muskogee OK; and then it’s on to Tri-State Speedway on May 3rd in Pocola, Oklahoma. The middle of the month will see OCRS tour stops on May 10th at the Oklahoma Sports Park in Ada OK; followed by an event at the Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina OK. May 17th.  The Salina race will be followed by a non-wing sprint car affair at the Osage Casino Caney Valley Speedway in Caney KS.

Red River Speedway is the second track OCRS has booked that will hold first time OCRS events in 2014. It was recently announced that Longdale Speedway in Longdale Oklahoma, a brand new facility, would host an OCRS event on April 12th.
