The schedule for the eighteenth season of competition is now set for the Southern Ontario Sprints (SOS). 2014 will see the SOS visit 4 different tracks across the province, including a return to one for the first time in a while.  As well, the SOS continues the tradition as an affiliate sanctioning body for the 10th annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals.

The 2014 season is going to have some busy weekends for the teams that travel with the SOS with three double header race weekends this year. It all gets started on the Victoria day long weekend as Brighton Speedway hosts the season opener for the traveling stars of the Southern Ontario Sprints with a race on Saturday, May 17th. The teams will then head to the Niagara region as the SOS returns to Humberstone Speedway in Port Colborne on Sunday, May 18th.  The SOS last raced at Humberstone Speedway in August of 2006 and look forward to returning in 2014.

The series returns to action in June for the second race at the unofficial home of the SOS, Brighton Speedway, on June 7th. Sunday, June 15th will once again see the race teams at Humberstone Speedway for their second race of the season at the 3/8 mile track.

July will see the Southern Ontario Sprints at three different tracks across the province. The action starts Friday, July 4th as the SOS will line up against the Corr-Pak sprints at Ohsweken Speedway. This is the second double header weekend of the season with the teams heading west on Saturday, July 5th where the SOS will headline the night’s events at South Buxton Raceway. The eastern part of the province will again see the SOS in action at Brighton Speedway on July 12th.

You can catch the SOS in action as they return to the track known as the “Devil D”, South Buxton Raceway, for the August holiday weekend on Saturday, August 2nd. The third appearance of 2014 at Brighton Speedway will have the teams traveling again on Saturday, August 9th.

The third and final double header weekend will once again see the Southern Ontario Sprints points championship be decided at Brighton Speedway as part of the Labour Day Classic weekend of events. A full night of racing will be run on Saturday, August 30th including the “Dream Come True” Dash where drivers who have never tasted victory in a Sprint Car will race to get their first win.  Sunday will be a full day of fun including a tailgate party, race car show and autograph session before the Championship is settled Sunday, August 31st.

The SOS was one of the original affiliate sanctioning bodies for the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals and will continue that tradition for the tenth annual race at Ohsweken Speedway. The CSCN is the largest Sprint Car event in Canada. The Nationals attract some of the biggest names in 360 sprint car racing from across Canada and the United States. This year’s CSCN will be held Friday, September 12th & Saturday, September 13th.
