– KNOXVILLE, Iowa (April 15, 2014) – White Lightning Motorsports will compete with a trio of sprint cars at the famed Knoxville Raceway for the first time ever this season.

The three-car team of Jamie Ball, Larry Ball Jr. and Devin Kline will race weekly at the prestigious half-mile track, which has partnered with MAVTV to televise aspects of the competition.

Jamie Ball is chasing the 360 championship. Larry Ball Jr. is making his return to the 410 class with an emphasis on a new challenge. And Devin Kline is debuting in the 305 division, which marks his first time in a sprint car.

“Pretty much for the past five years we’ve had two cars, but this is the first time we’re going to have three,” Jamie Ball said. “I think it will keep us up to date more on track conditions. We’ll have one of our cars on the track probably every 20 or 30 minutes.”

White Lightning Motorsports captured the 305 championship last year with Ball Jr., who is stepping back into a 410 for the first time since 2006.

“A top five in points would be amazing,” Jamie Ball said of his father. “A top 10 would be realistic. He wants to be competitive and in the hunt in what will be one of the toughest classes ever at Knoxville.”

Ball’s expectation for himself is to go after the title following his fourth-place finish in the championship standings during his rookie season last year.

“After the year I had last year and with Clint Garner moving up, it leaves the door open for someone,” he said. “I never qualified out of the top eight last year. That’s kind of the key to everything. I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life. Car-wise and shape-wise, I think we’re in a good place.”

Kline, who has crewed for the team in the past, made his first career laps in a full-sized sprint car during the practice night at Knoxville Raceway last Saturday.

“Within about 30 laps his quickest lap is a 17.8, which is a second off the track record,” Ball said. “He’s progressed fairly quickly.”

The trio will kick off the season this Saturday during the season opener at Knoxville Raceway.
