– HIGHLANDS, Texas (May 1, 2014) – Anticipation is high as Channin Tankersley eyes the ASCS Gulf South Region doubleheader this weekend.

Tankersley and the series will tackle Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas, on Friday before wrapping up the weekend on Saturday at Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas.

“The goal is to win,” he said. “That’s our goal every weekend. Peggy and Marvin Pearson have a really good operation that I’m driving for and I’m feeling pretty good about this weekend.”

Tankersley, who won his heat race and finished seventh in the feature during his season opener this year at Golden Triangle Raceway Park, has five victories at the quarter-mile track dating back to 2008. However, it’s been nearly four years since his last triumph.

“We’ve always had good runs going there and something bad happens,” he said. “It seems about the past three or four or five shows have been like that. We’re losing too much at the end of the race.”

Tankersley captured his lone victory at Battleground Speedway last season when he charged from fourth place to the lead on the final lap.

“I was running fourth coming to the white flag,” he said. “They were choo-chooing on the bottom. I guess they got stuck behind a lapped car and I got two of them in turn one and the other in turn four.”

Tankersley enters this weekend ranked second in the ASCS Gulf South Region championship standings.
