Travis Young goes “two-fer” in Mel Kenyon Midget Series

By Eric Bunnussa

(Lebanon, IN)  In the 2014 Mel Kenyon Midget Series Travis Young is perfect through two races.  Young jumped to the point from his pole position and lead the entire thirty lap race.

It wasn’t with drama for the Franklin, IN driver however.  When a lap 12 spin by Kent Kriegbaum brought out the yellow and bunched up the field, Cordy Horn began to shadow Young in every corner.  At the same time, Cole Fehr was using the cushion to move into second place.  Fehr made it along side Young and was challenging for the lead when he tangled with a lapped car on lap 28.  He collected Clayton Gaines and Logan Huggler in the ensuing accident.

Following the yellow, Young held off Horn to take the win by 0.279 seconds.  Colton Dooley, Jessica Bean and Ken Kriegbaum rounded out the top five.

The Mel Kenyon Midget Series returns to action on Saturday May 10, at Coles County Speedway in Matoon, IL.
