Next up for the USAC Southwest Sprint cars is the annual “Salute to Indy” at Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Ariz. May 24-25.
Charles Davis Jr. of Buckeye, Ariz. will take a five-point lead over Josh Pelkey into the back-to-back Peoria events following his victory in last Saturday night’s “Mother’s Day” race at Arizona Speedway in Queen Creek.
Davis returned to the head of the all-time victory list for USAC drivers in Arizona with his 13th feature win Saturday night at Queen Creek. Driving the RSS Industries/Rod End Supply RSS/Don Ott, he passed Andy Reinbold on lap 26 and led the final five laps to beat Reinbold, Josh Pelkey, R.J. Johnson and Matt Rossi to win.
