Atlanta, GA – May 19, 2014 – The United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour presented by K&N Filters winged sprint cars headline the 16th annual Ival Cooper Memorial Race at Jackson Motor Speedway in Byram, Mississippi this Saturday night, May 24th.  The historic track’s speed spectacular honors the legendary Southern Modified and Super Modified race car driver Ival Cooper who hailed from Jackson, Mississippi. It will be the first time ever that the United Sprint Car Series has served as headliners for the event that also features the K&N Filters USCS Outlaw Modifieds ve. The new Gulf States Modified Series challenge and Nesmith Street Stocks.

The exotic USCS Outlaw Thunder winged sprint cars weight only 1300 pounds with 700+ horsepower engines. Those two elements in addition to a huge 25 square foot top wing and seventeen inch wide specially designed Hoosier rear tires make them the fastest cars ever to compete on the high-banked ¼ mile oval.  The USCS outlaw sprint cars are expected to reach speeds over 100 miles per hour on the straight-aways.

 

Additionally, the event is the opening event night for the six races over eight nights USCS Sprint Speed Week 2014. The event at JMS awards the USCS Outlaw Thunder Tour drivers both USCS Outlaw Thunder National championship and Mid South Thunder Tour regional series championship points. The Mid South regional series competes in Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee. The event is expected to draw drivers from six states including some of the top ranked drivers in North America.

 

The United Sprint Car Series prsented by K&N Filters opened their Speedweek mini-series at Jackson Motor Speedway on May 25, 2013. The event, then entitled the USCS “Night of Thunder”, was won by 2012 USCS National Champion, Tim Crawley from Benton, Arkansas. The 2013 USCS Sprint Car Speedweek opener saw Crawley best a 32 car field of drivers from five states in the USCS Sprint Car division. Local driver Billy Collect collected the win in the K&N Filters USCS Outlaw Modifieds.

 

In addition to the USCS Outlaw Thunder winged sprint cars, on the racing card are the K&N Filters USCS Outlaw Modifieds who square off against the Gulf States Modified Series and the speedways Modified division regulars in a battle royale with $1000 going to the winner. The Jackson Motor Speedway weekly Nesmith Chevrolet Street Stock division is also on the racing card with a $1000 to win special event of their own.

 

Race fans are sure to get their money’s worth with a full night of non-stop family entertainment that includes a guarantee of plenty of thrills, chills and spills from the time the green flag flies for the USCS Outlaw Modified Dash race until the checkered flag falls on the final main event of the evening.
