Busy Weekend on Tap For URSS Rebels

URSS United Rebel Sprint Series Top Story

From URSS

The United Rebel Sprint Series will have a very busy weekend as both the Colorado and Kansas Regions will hit the track three times in three different states on Saturday and Sunday.

The action kicks off Saturday at 5pm as the Colorado Region tackles the El Paso County Speedway in Calhan Co. for the second time this year. USA Performance Engines will be the sponsor for this event as they have added money to the purse bringing the winners share to $700 for this event.

Golden Colorado’s Coby Pearce will look to back up his first outing this year at EPCS as he bested a field of 18 cars to win his first URSS feature event on May 17th. He will face an uphill battle as veteran Mark Walinder will make his first start of the season and Brian Hardman who won 3 features in a row at Calhan in 2012 will also be competing. Mix in a lot on upcoming and talented rookies this year and Saturday’s race in Calhan will not disappoint the Colorado sprint car fans.

The Kansas region will also be in action Saturday night as they make the first of two stops this year at the famed big half mile of Elmwood Park Speedway in Norton Ks.

Plains Kansas’s Luke Cranston who won both features in Norton in 2013 will be in attendance along with last weeks winner in Wakeeney and current point leader Zach Burton. Both drivers are always strong on the big half mile along with McCooks Darren Berry who won the opening weekly show at Norton in April. Along with these drivers will be Wyoming’s Zac Taylor and Colorado’s Jake Bubak who are in a tight points battle with Blurton with Taylor only 2 points behind and Bubak only ten down. Racing starts at 7pm.

Then the weekend culminates at most of the drivers favorite race track on the circuit as they make their way to the URSS’s one and only stop this season to the Dawson Co. Raceway in Lexington, Ne on Sunday. This looks to be a real barn burner as many of the Colorado cars will leave Colorado and head to Nebraska to duel with the Kansas boys on neutral territory on the lightning fast ½ mile. Along with the URSS regulars, several of the Nebraska Racesaver sprint cars out of Lincoln have contacted URSS promoter Rick Salem with their plans on making the Sunday tow to Lexington.

Jason Martin who has won several features this year at Eagle Raceway and also many URSS features has shown his intent to be on hand if he has no problems running his 360 on Saturday. He will be met with a strong field of URSS regulars as last years winners at Dawson Co. Raceway were Hill City’s Jeff Radcliffe and Eagle Colorado’s Patrick Bourke are both planning on backing up their 2013 victories. 2012 winner Brian Herbert will also be looking to notch another win in Lexington.

Racing starts at 630
