OCRS Sprint Cars To ‘Double-Up’ This Weekend!

Tulsa Oklahoma (June 9, 2014) – After a week of sitting idle in race shops throughout the region, the sprint cars of the Oil Capital Racing Series are getting prepped for their third annual doubleheader trek that will encompass the grand red clay oval of the Monett Speedway and the legendary Tri-State Speedway.OCRS Oil Capital Racing Series 2013 Logo

Friday the 13th is well chronicled as a bad luck date, but they say there is always an exception to such superstitions. In this instance, for the race fans of the Monett Missouri area, Friday the 13th is a lucky day this week as promoters Randy and Linda Mooneyham are bringing OCRS sprint cars to town once more. It will be the ONLY sprint car race at Monett in 2014.

Last year, the rave coming into Monett was the emergence of Miss Harli White who was leading the OCRS vagabond into the ‘Show Me State’, but when it was time to place the pedal to the metal, it was the charming Miss Kacee Frazier who schooled everyone to score her initial OCRS feature race. In 2012, it was Whit Gastineau winning on a last lap pass of Danny Smith for Monett glory.

Then on Saturday night, the driver licking his chops to hit Tim and Connie Adams’ Pocola Oklahoma track for another time is Alex DeCamp from Locust Grove OK. Sometimes a track just suits a driver and Tri-State Speedway has been very good to DeCamp as he won at TSS on May 3rd for his second career OCRS score. His first OCRS win was at none other than TSS in June of 2013. DeCamp is coming off his third overall OCRS win as he was the victor in the last OCRS outing on May 31st at the Lawton Speedway in southwest Oklahoma. Seems TSS always produces awesome sprint car shows and there is no reason not to think it wont happen again this week.

A newcomer will be in action among the OCRS contingent as Joseph Miller from Cove Arkansas will make his OCRS and overall sprint car debut. The interesting fact about Miller is that he is an E-4/Senior Airman currently home on leave from the U.S. Air Force. Miller, who is currently stationed in Italy, is a former go-kart / street stock pilot who is ready to slide into a horsepower packed sprint car. Family and friends have worked hard to prepare the #30 sprinter and this weekend is the debut of the new team. It is an honor to have a young man such as Miller, who is serving our great country, to want to compete with the OCRS series. The program will be sponsored by: Champ Hinton Enterprises, a Fr. Smith Arkansas area car dealer.

Coming into the 2014 event, Danny Smith sits on top of the point standings with a scant 17-point lead over Kansas native Andrew Deal (551-534). Kyle Clark (433), Kade Morton (413) and his brother Chance (408) round out the top five in the race for the Harold Leep Championship Trophy.
