Knoxville, IA — (June 21, 2014) — Craig Dollansky captured the 61st annual mid-season championship at Knoxville Raceway Saturday night while Jamie Ball was victorious in the 360 division and J Kinder took the laurels for the 305s during Farm Bureau/Knoxville Raceway Hall of Fame Night.

After a red flag on the opening lap of the 410 feature for a single car wreck, pole sitter Craig Dollansky grabbed the initial lead of the 25-lap event. Just one lap later he lost that spot to fellow row one starter Lynton Jeffrey. Jeffrey held that spot until the finish of the seventh go around when Dollansky recaptured the top spot at the flag stand. Dollansky then proceeded to obliterate the 24-car field as he pulled away from all contenders to capture his 15th career feature event win in a race which went non-stop. The win paid the Minnesota driver $3,500 for his efforts.

Behind him the top ten was in constant flux and it took the entire race to sort those positions out. Fourth row starter Justin Henderson finished in the runner-up spot as Brian Brown made a last lap pass of Danny Lasoski to take third. Bronson Maeschen, an early contender, finished fifth. Rounding out the top ten finishers were Dusty Zomer, Jeffrey, Davey Heskin, Terry McCarl and Clint Garner on what could well have been the raciest track of the season.

The 360 division saw a first-time winner as Jamie Ball led nearly the entire 18-lap distance to claim the $1,500 top prize. Ball, who started on the pole, took command of the race right away. In the early going he was challenged by fellow front row starter Russ Hall. On lap eight fourth row starter Justin Henderson grabbed the runner-up position away from Hall and began chasing Ball around the big Knoxville half mile.

Henderson, who was always in Ball’s shadow, stayed very close as the two top runners began racing through the lap traffic. On the 14th circuit Henderson made the pass of Ball to claim that lap. Ball did not surrender and one lap later he had the lead again. As those two cars continued in this non-stop race Ball was able to put a few backmarkers between himself and Henderson in the final stages to come across the finish line and claim his first career feature event.

Following Ball and Henderson were Nate VanHaaften, Hall, Joe Beaver, Jon Agan, rookie Dylan Peterson and brothers Jarrod and Josh Schneiderman.

The 305 feature saw numerous slow-down flags for that 15-lap mid-season event. Kevin Hetrick utilized his front row starting nod to claim the first five laps of the race. On lap six J Kinder pulled alongside of the Hetrick machine and the duo raced side by side for the entire lap with Kinder edging Hetrick at the stripe to the top spot. Once in front Kinder created a huge lead which was negated two laps from the finish when Josh Jones wrecked in turn one.

Kinder was able to hold his lead on the restart to take his 5th career win at this Central Iowa race track. He was followed to the finish by Hetrick, Mitch Alexander, Mike Mayberry, Mathew Stelzer and rookie Devin Kline.

The 305 feature event was raced in honor of the late Brian Hetrick who lost his life in a motorcycle accident in 2008. The Hetrick family added money to the purse for that 18 lap event. Brian’s brother Kevin is a competitor in the 305 class and runs the No. 35 in tribute to him.
