After dominating a Taco Bravo Series race at the Ocean Speedway a few weeks ago, Jonathan Allard returned to form on Friday night at the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds scoring his first KWS win of the 2014 season, and followed it up by charging to second at the Calistoga Speedway.

“It was a great weekend for our team, and I cannot thank the boys for their massive effort all week getting things ready to go,” Allard said.

With 27 cars on hand at the Ocean Speedway, Allard kicked his night off in fine form, as he timed the Tri-C Manufacturing/ButlerBuilt/Platinum Powder Coating entry in fastest in group qualifying.

Running third in heat race action, Allard moved on into the evening’s Dash, where a sixth place finish lined him up in the third row for the feature event.

Taking the green flag in the sixth spot, Allard was on the move as he worked his way through the field very quickly.

Chasing after early leader, Mitchell Faccinto, Allard moved into the lead on the 10th lap, just before the red flew on the 11th lap, bunching the field back up.

Back under green, Allard was very tough up front, as he worked his way out to a sizeable lead, and took the checkered flag, which was his third consecutive King of the West Series win at the speedway.

“We are starting to turn a corner, and I have a ton of confidence in our team,” Allard said. “It is great to finally win a KWS race for Clyde and Marion Lamar.”

Saturday night the scene shifted to the historic Calistoga Speedway in Calistoga, CA, where Allard looked to complete the weekend sweep.

Timing in fourth fastest on the ½ mile track, Allard’s third place effort in heat race action moved him into the Dash.

Lining up sixth in the Dash, JA was able to gain a position as he finished fifth, putting him in the third row of the 25-lap feature event.

When the race went green, Allard ran in the fifth spot, as he chased after Shane Golobic and Kyle Hirst who were battling in front of him.

With Golobic pulling into the pits early in the race, Allard battled with Kyle Hirst for the third spot, and was able to grab the spot on the 14th lap, and then briefly overtook Bud Kaeding for the second spot on the 15th lap, only to have Kaeding take the spot back.

With the yellow flying on the 16th lap, the field was restacked, and fans would then be treated to a very entertaining battle for the second spot, as Allard, Kaeding, and Hirst battled three wide for two laps, with Allard getting the better of the trio and taking the second spot just before the caution flew on the 18th lap.

With trouble ensuing on the restart, the final restart of the night was single file, and though he was lined up on Rico Abreu’s rear bumper, he wasn’t able to challenge him for the top spot in clean air, and he went on to score a second place finish.

“To pick up two top-two finishes is huge,” he said. “This is a great momentum booster for us to head up to Washington with as we set our sights on the Dirt Cup.”

Allard would like to thank Tri-C Manufacturing, K&N, ButlerBuilt, Platinum Powder Coating, King Racing Products, BR Motorsports, Red Line Oil, KSE Racing Products, Weld Wheels, NGK Spark Plugs, FK Rod Ends, Hunt Magnetos, Longacre Products, Ti64, A.R.T. Speed Equipment and Hoosier Tire for their support.

2014 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-26, Wins-5, Top 5’s-10, Top 10’s-17.
