– Aside from being a dominant racecar driver, Hollister, CA native, Ryan Bernal is also training to become a firefighter. With a passion for both, Bernal is bringing both his worlds together, with the assistance of John Prentice, and putting on the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation (AARBF) Night at the Races at the Ocean Speedway on August 8th.

“The Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation helps children who are burn victims adjust to the change in lifestyle that they will have,” Bernal said. “With how great the racing community is with charitable events, and the fact that my dad worked with this same foundation years ago, made this something I really wanted to put together, and I can’t thank John Prentice enough for helping make this happen.”

With the Taco Bravo Sprints as well as the USAC West Coast 360 Sprint Cars along with the American Stocks, IMCA Mods, and IMCA Sport Mods on the card for August 8th event, Bernal is hoping that the star studded field will attract a huge crowd to help raise funds for the AARBF.

Leading up to the event, Bernal will host an EBay auction the second and third weeks of July, auctioning off numerous driver memorabilia, as he continues to raise funds.

All season long, Bernal has sold his T Shirts with 100% of the proceeds going straight to the foundation. August 8th is set to be a special event at the speedway as it will kick off with an autograph session in the main grandstand area, and all through the night 50/50 raffle tickets will be sold with half of the pot going to AARBF.

During the night, John Prentice will have a group of children from the foundation by his side as he gives them the ins and outs of the Ocean Speedway and will introduce them to various drivers.

The Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation has the mission of enhancing the qualify of life for burn survivors as well as promoting burn prevention. Following the death of Alisa Ann Ruch to burns when she was just eight years old, her parents used their story as a catalyst for change, and started the foundation in 1971. Using funds raised, the AARBF offers survivors numerous services to cope with injuries, as well as Burn Prevention Education.

“It is something that means a lot to me, and I am really looking forward to a great night,” Bernal added. “The racing family is great, and I am thankful to the drivers who have donated to our auction, and hope a lot of people can find it in their hearts to participate.”
