Though it hasn’t quite been the year Lance Dewease and his Dietz Motorsports team were hoping for, Dewease rose to the occasion on Saturday night at the Williams Grove Speedway and picked up the team’s third win of the season as they defeated the World of Outlaws to win the Summer Nationals, and in doing so, Dewease picked up his 300th career win.

“It feels great to get back in victory lane and get this flag here at Williams Grove,” Dewease said as he was handed his checkered flag in victory lane. “It has been 14 months since we were here, and it feels great. This place is very special to me.”

Saturday night started off with Dewease timing in the C.C. Dietz Builders/Conduit Connections/Hess Ornamental Iron machine ninth fastest, putting him on the front row of his heat.

Taking advantage of his starting position, Dewease pull away to the victory, earning a position in the dash, which he would win, putting him on the pole of the feature event.

Waiting a ran storm that hit the area, Dewease settled into the second spot when the race started in the early hours on Sunday morning, chasing after Lucas Wolfe.

Stalking Wolfe in the early stages of the race, Dewease was careful not to tip his hand to Wolfe, and following a caution on the eighth lap, Dewease was able to take command of the race, as he had Donny Schatz chasing after him.

On the 18th lap, the red flew to allow crews to clean up oil that was on the surface from an expired engine, and when the action resumed, Dewease remained strong out front, as he quickly found himself in lapped traffic.

Admittedly trying to time lapped traffic to reach them getting into the corner, Dewease backed off a little too much, and opened the door for Schatz, but Dewease would not be denied on this night as he fended off the World of Outlaw point, leader and celebrated his 300th career win in fitting style, beating the World of Outlaws at Williams Grove.

“It’s a great rivalry, and it is a sweet feeling to beat them,” he added. “They have great racers, and we have great racers, and it is always a great battle.”

Friday night during the opener of the Summer Nationals, Dewease went out late for time trials and tripped the clock with the 27th fastest lap of the night.

Starting seventh in his heat, Dewease put on a very impressive charge as he worked his way into the third spot, transferring to the feature event, where he gridded the field in the 23rd position.

The feature event saw the Fayetteville, PA driver pick up a handful of positions as he raced with a bunch of his PA rivals en route to a 16th place finish.

On Thursday night at the Lincoln Speedway, Dewease timed in 30th quickest before a sixth place finish in heat race action.

Lining up 10th in the LCQ, Dewease’s ninth place effort ended his night, as he did not transfer into the feature event.

“This racing is all about the draw sometimes,” he said. “ I thought we were pretty good at Lincoln, and we didn’t make the show, and on Friday night we raced really well, but a late draw for qualifying put us in a hole, and we didn’t time in well. We haven’t been good on the big tracks all year, so this was a shot of confidence, and hopefully we can keep improving. I am having a blast racing with the Dietz family, and can’t thank them for the position they have put me in.”
