Whelen Fire & Rescue Night This Week At Port Royal

Port Royal –Port Royal Speedway will present Whelen Engineering Juniata County Fire and Rescue EMS Night this Saturday, July 26 at 7:30 pm.

Featured in racing action on the track will be the Aumiller’s Insurance 410 sprints, the Jake’s Carts/Enviroman Products super late models and the River Valley Builders 305 sprints.

 

General admission gates will open at 5 pm with adult general admission priced at $15 and students 12 – 18 priced at JUST $5.

 

Dozens of fire apparatus and ambulance coaches from fire and ems companies across Juniata County will be on display adjacent to the speedway prior to the races.

 

Youth firetruck rides will take place behind the grandstand from approximately 5:30 until 6:45 pm.

 

A Life Flight Air Ambulance helicopter will land in the speedway infield from approximately 5:30 until 6:30 pm.

 

During intermission a parade of all emergency vehicles in attendance will take place around the speedway.

 

And prior to heat races getting underway, the First National Bank of Mifflintown Kids Money Scramble will take place on the speedway frontstretch, just after practice laps.

 

A total of $1,000 in coins will be spread on the oval surface for youth ages 12 and under to pick up as sponsored by FNB of Mifflintown.

 

The night itself is sponsored by Whelen Engineering.

 

Whelen is a “Manufactured in the USA company” employing 1,300-pluse people.

 

Whelen has been manufacturing Emergency lights and Sirens supporting all public safety services since 1953, represented locally by Kevin Walker since 1997.

 

Whelen is a family owned business maintaining integrity and loyalty to the Public Services market by growing its market utilizing local labor forces both in Connecticut and New Hampshire.

 

For the 410 sprints, the July 26 race will be the final tune up before the annual Living Legends Dream Race is staged on August 2, honoring Lance Dewease and Maynard Boop.

 

A total purse worth more than $50,000 is on the line in the prestigious event.

 

So far this season, Port Royal has had 10 different sprint car winners in 11 events while the super late models have contested nine features with no one repeating to date.
