– ELMA, Wash. (Aug. 4, 2014) – Henry Van Dam kicked off the month of August by doing what he has done a lot this season – win.

Van Dam led all 25 laps to capture his fifth victory of the season last Saturday at Grays Harbor Raceway. His previous best for wins in a season was three.

Henry Van Dam (33v), Danny Jennings (1J), and Jonathan Cornell (

“We’re just adding to a new record,” he said. “You definitely carry a lot more confidence into each night because you’re bringing a fast race car to the track. You also have to remind yourself that it’s a new race and you can’t let your guard down. I feel like we’re working as hard to keep this going as we were building it.”

Van Dam kicked off the night by qualifying third quickest. He then advanced from third place to win his heat race.

“On the last lap we went from third to first,” he said. “I was trying to run the top and it took me a while to get it run in. Then the guy who was leading was having some trouble and he slipped up a bit.”

Since the feature inversion was a zero and Van Dam won the first heat race, he started on the pole of the main event.

“I got a good jump,” he said. “With only having 10 cars the track was real dirty. I was moving around a lot. Colton Heath was in second and he kept me on my toes. At one point early in the night he got in on the bottom and let me know he was there. I made some adjustments and I didn’t really see him the rest of the race.”

Van Dam didn’t have any issues in traffic as he cruised to his third triumph of the season at Grays Harbor Raceway.

“I had to make good decisions all night long,” he said. “I was around the top for the first part of the race and then the bottom in turns three and four got better as the race went on.”

Van Dam will head to Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, Ore., this Friday for an ASCS Northwest Region event.
