Tulsa, OK — (August 25, 2014) — When it comes to the half-mile Jackson Speedway, one name has been the class of the field the past couple years. For Brian Brown, the surge of momentum couldn’t be higher going into the $5,000 to win Jackson Nationals.

“Jackson has always been a track that we’ve always run pretty well at. It seems like we always have a good car and our engines always seem to run pretty well there, plus we’ve had some luck on our side with good draws and things like that,” said Brown.

The defending champion of the Jackson Nationals, Brown will seek his second victory of 2014 at the half-mile oval, having pocketed $10,000 on July 3 with the Jackson Sprint Touring Series (JSTS) while looking to add to his dozen career Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour wins.

Brown realizes he will have to best the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series National Tour, on top of some the best driver in the Mid-West, “I’m looking forward to the weekend. There should be in the neighborhood of 40-50 cars that are coming to win also so it’s not going to be easy, but I feel like if we go there and do our job and have a little bit of luck, then we should be in contention.”

A full points paying show for the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by MAVTV American Real, the points chase has begun to tighten with the top-five only separated by 112 points going into the weekend.

Brad Loyet continues to lead, but now has a new challenger as Jeff Swindell overtook Jason Johnson in the driver standings following his win Friday at the Lexington 104 Speedway.

Trailing by only 74 markers going into the double-dip weekend, Swindell was on point to reel off a pair of top-five finishes at the Jackson Speedway in 2013. Winning the preliminary feature, Swindell’s A-Main on Saturday came to an end on Lap 12 after contact with another driver sent the No. 94 flipping into the third turn.

Dropping to third in driver standings following an engine failure at the Lexington 104 Speedway, Jason Johnson continues to hunt for his first ASCS National Tour victory of the season. The 2011 champion of the Jackson Nationals, Johnson is one of nine previous event Champions expected to be on hand.

On a roll going into the Jackson Nationals, Sam Hafertepe, Jr. looks to extend his streak of top-tens’ to eleven straight. Taking over the fourth spot in driver standings, Hafertepe has performed well on half-mile tracks in 2014, with a fourth at the Black Hills Speedway on July 18 followed by a runner-up in the 360 Nationals on August 2, and a fifth in the Front Row Challenge on August 4.

Johnny Herrera enters the weekend fifth. Also winless in National Tour competition in 2014, Herrera finished twelfth and seventh in the 2013 Jackson Nationals, having to come from the B-Feature on the prelim night by way of a provisional.

Joined with the Speedway Motors ASCS Midwest Region, Billy Alley leads the region by 110 over Jack Dover. Jordan Boston rides third with Jason Martin and Tyler Drueke making the top five.

JSTS points shows Kaley Gharst atop the standings by 33 over Skylar Prochaska. Gregg Bakker, Derrik Lusk, and Matt Juhl with the margin at 135 make up the top-five.

Friday, August 29 will feature a $3,000 to win A-Feature with the top four locking into Saturday’s $5,000 to win championship event. Tickets for the Labor Day spectacular are on sale at http://www.jacksonspeedway.com or by calling (712) 202-5540.

Friday’s program will include A-Mods, Hobby Stocks, and Sport Compacts. Saturday’s card will include Micro Sprints, Stock Cars, and Sport Mods.

Live music will follow the night’s racing program.
