Angell Park Speedway season finale Sunday

Sun Prairie, Wis., Aug. 28—“Fireman’s Appreciation Night” is slated for Sunday Night August 31, at Angell Park Speedway, and will mark the final racing event of the season at the track. The event will feature: The Zimbrick Chevrolet of Sun Prairie/Mid-State Equipment Badger Midget Racing Series, Badger 600 Micros, and the VMSC/MSCRA vintage modifeds.
       The 30-lap Badger Midget feature will pay $2,000 to win. The fastest six Badger car owners will also participate in the 11th annual Dave Schulenberg Memorial Dash. The eight midget events run this season have produced four first-time Angell Park Speedway feature winners.
        Brandon Sletten holds an eighteen-point lead over defending Badger 600 Micro Series champion Matt Paderta heading into the event. The Micro season ends with the “Fall Invitational” at Chilton (Wis.) Speedway on September 19-20.
The Vintage Modified Stock Car Club (VMSC) and the Milwaukee Stock Car Racing Association (MSCRA) will run heat races and a feature. The popular modified cars were the main staple of Wisconsin short tracking racing from the 1950’s-70’s.
       Grandstands open at 4:30 pm, practice and qualifying beginning at 6:00 pm, with racing to follow. Monday September 1 is the slated rain date for the event.
