The Civil War Series Presented By Flowmaster comes to an end on Saturday night during the Tribute To Gary Patterson, as the series makes it’s first ever visit to the Stockton Dirt Track.

Heading into the season’s culminating event, it is Fremont, CA driver, Shane Golobic in the drivers seat to become the 12th different champion of the region’s top 360ci traveling series. Fresh off of a Rookie of the Year performance at the Short Track Nationals, Golobic hopes to become the series’ lone repeat winner on Saturday night as he looks to put an exclamation point on what has been a remarkable 2014 campaign.

With 10 races in the books, the series has seen 10 different feature event winners, and on Saturday night drivers will be vying to solidify up their point positions, as well as ending their 2014 season in a big way, by picking up the coveted Tribute To Gary Patterson.

Though Golobic enters the event with a 94 point cushion over 2013 champ, Sean Becker, the battle within the Top-Five is extremely tight, with much still to be determined on Saturday night.

While he has yet to score a Civil War Series win in 2014, Becker has been very consistent over the 10-race campaign, and will look to grab his second win of the year aboard the Main Motorsports No. 35m.

Sitting in the third spot, and just 24 digits behind Becker is Watsonville, CA driver, Justin Sanders. Sanders had a breakout season at the Placerville Speedway, but did not have the Civil War campaign he had hoped for after flirting with the series title in 2013. Sanders comes into The Tribute To Gary Patterson with second in the standings in his grasp, but more importantly he is hungry for a win.

Seven-time Civil War Series Champion, Andy Forsberg, heads into the Tribute To Gary Patterson fourth in the standings, just nine markers out of third, looking  for a happy ending in what has been a whirlwind 2014 season. With bad luck getting the best of Forsberg and his F&F Racing team much of the 2014 season, Forsberg still has been one of the 10 winners in 2014, and would like nothing more than to be the lone multiple feature winner.

One of the hottest drivers with the series over the last half of the season has been Wilton, CA driver, Matt Peterson. Scoring his first career sprint car win in September, Peterson heads into the Tribute To Gary Patterson fifth in the standings. 21 points out of fourth place, Peterson has been a regular in the top-five as of late. In the series’ most recent event at the Petaluma Speedway, Peterson picked up a third place finish after battling with the leaders during much of the race.

Aside from this event marking the end of the 2014 season, it is also the first time ever that the Tribute To Gary Patterson has been on the Civil War Series Presented by Flowmaster. In a race that will also be run in conjunction with the King of the West Series, drivers and teams pay homage to the late, great, Gary Patterson who lost his life in an on track crash at the Calistoga Speedway in 1983, and an event has been held in his honor every year since.

Patterson moved to Stockton in 1957, and actually began his racing career at the Stockton 99 Speedway. With the Stockton Dirt Track opening in 2013, the event fittingly moved to the new location, and for the second time, the event will be held at the Stockton Dirt Track. The 2014 event looks to be one of the biggest as both the Civil War Series Presented By Flowmaster, and King of the West Series will crown their champions on the same night, at the same location.

During the night, each series’ dash will have some extra money up for grabs as Sunnyvalley Smoke Meats, Reeves Sand and Gravel, Panella Racing Engines, Don From Modesto Steel, and Nascimento Motorsports have all pitched in to make this event extra special.

Premium reserved grandstand seats cost $30 for all ages, with general admission lower bleacher seats being $20 for ages 13 and up. Kids 6-12 in the lower bleacher seats cost $10 and 5 & under FREE. Box seats in sets of six will be sold for $180 and sets of eight for $240. There will also be a $3 convenience fee for each presale ticket purchased. Ticket sales with start at 2pm, with the front gate opening at 4pm.

From noon-4pm, there will also be a live band on hand during a car show directly behind the main grandstands, so please come out early and make a full day out of your trip.
