Syracuse, NY — (February 23, 2015) — The picturesque campus located in a hamlet of Upstate, New York known as SUNY Canton has returned to be a major backer once again for the Lucas Oil Empire Super Sprints (ESS) in 2015. SUNY Canton has been a fixture in many forms of local motorsports for years and in return has seen several enroll from the racing fraternity into one of their highly recognized curriculums.

Now in it’s third year, the Central New York Speedweek has been a very popular part of the ESS trail and SUNY Canton will once again be the title sponsor of the five day stretch. Each event pays a minimum of $2,000 to win, $250 to start and also will have a nice point fund awaiting the top ten in points at the end of the week.

The SUNY Canton Series returns for the seventh season and will tally points earned at Can-Am Motorsports Park, Brewerton Speedway, Mohawk Int’l Raceway, Fulton Speedway and with three stops, the Utica-Rome Speedway. These tracks are from areas where SUNY Canton recruits heavily and makes for a very nice series within a series.

For the first time, SUNY Canton will also sponsor a new nightly charger award. Different from our nightly Insinger Performance Hard Charger Award, this award will reward a driver lower in points for a hard earned effort.

SUNY Canton makes education a hands-on engaging experience to prepare its scholars for careers. The College was originally chartered in 1906 as the first postsecondary, two-year college in New York. The College’s faculty members are noted for their professional real-world experience in addition to their academic credentials.
