SOS Southern Ontario Sprints Top StoryThe 20th anniversary season schedule of competition is now set for the Southern Ontario Sprints (SOS). The tour will take the SOS across Ontario this summer with stops at Brighton Speedway, Ohsweken Speedway, South Buxton Raceway, Humberstone Speedway as well as returning to Merrittville Speedway for the first time since 2010. The SOS will also continue the tradition as an affiliate sanctioning body for the 11th annual Canadian Sprint Car Nationals.

The season will open with the first of four double header weekends on the schedule at Brighton Speedway Saturday, May 16th . The series then travels around the western end of Lake Ontario to head to Port Colbourne Ontario’s Humberstone Speedway on Sunday, May 17th to round out the first long weekend of the summer.

Next on the schedule for the Southern Ontario Sprints is Saturday, June 6th at South Buxton Raceway; the site of the first ever SOS race held on May 18th, 1996.

June brings a special night for the SOS. In partnership with Brighton Speedway, the SOS is pleased to announce that Saturday, June 20th at Brighton Speedway, the SOS will appear with the World of Outlaw Late Model series. A not to be missed event featuring two of the fastest race series on dirt.

Summer racing action really heats up with the second double header weekend of the season July 3rd and 4th as the SOS challenge the weekly Corr/Pak sprints at their home track of Ohsweken Speedway and then travel west down the 401 to South Buxton Raceway for the second and final time of the season. July 11th will see the SOS back to the east end of the great lakes at Brighton Speedway slinging dirt on the 1/3rd mile oval.

August brings the SOS back to Brighton Speedway on Saturday, August 8th before returning to the beautiful Niagara region to visit Humberstone Speedway once again on Sunday, August 9th.

Always a great event on the schedule, the Southern Ontario Sprints will headline the races at Brighton Speedway as part of the Labour Day Classic weekend of events. A full night of racing will be run on Saturday, September 5th including the “Dream Come True” Dash, where one driver will get their first ever win in a Sprint Car. Sunday with also be a day of fun including a tailgate party, race car show and autograph session before a second full night of racing action.

Finally the Champion of the Southern Ontario Sprints 20th Anniversary season will be crowned at Merrittville Speedway Friday, September 11th as part of Merrittville’s Championship Triple Header Weekend.

The SOS was one of the original affiliate sanctioning bodies for the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals and will continue that tradition for the 11th annual race at Ohsweken Speedway. The Nationals are the largest Sprint Car event in Canada each year, attracting some of the biggest names in 360 Sprint Car racing from across North America. This years CSCN will be held Friday, September 18th & Saturday, September 19th
