Lebanon, IN — (May 1, 2015) — The USSA Mel Kenyon Midget Series drivers will make their first appearance of 2015 on dirt this Saturday night at US 24 Speedway. The 30 lap feature event will also be current point leader Kyle O’Gara’s first dirt race in a Kenyon Midget. O’Gara has won the series’ opening rounds at Anderson Speedway and the Indianapolis Speedrome.

Historically the US 24 Speedway bullring provides close and sometimes rough and tumble racing for the drivers in the Mel Kenyon Midget Series. The semi-banked surface can reach out and bite the drivers who are short on dirt racing experience. Because of this the track always plays a pivotal role in the Mel Kenyon Midget Series championship race.

For the first time since the USSA midget series has been visiting US 24 Speedway, 2012 Champion Travis Young will not be in the field. His record at US 24 Speedway showed he was always a threat to take the checkers. Young retired from racing at the end of 2014. His retirement has opened up the field for several of the younger drivers to take a spot at the front of the field.

Clayton Gaines has 7 top five finishes at US 24. Gaines is showing a growing maturity and confidence in his Kenyon Midget. Along with Logan Huggler and Ashlea Albertson, expect Gaines to be among the drivers who step up on the leader boards this season.

The Mel Kenyon Midget Series will return to action in the first dirt race of the season on Saturday May 2 at US 24 Speedway in Logansport, IN. Practice on the US 24 bullring will begin at 6:15 with racing schedule to start at 7:30. The USSA midgets will compete in a 30 lap feature.
