– KNOXVILLE, Iowa (May 11, 2015) – Big Game Motorsports powered to its first victory of the season on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway.

The win came during the first career FVP National Sprint League event at the half-mile oval and it gives driver Danny Lasoski a 108-point lead in the championship standings after three races.

“That just goes to show the winter preparation was very good,” he said. “It’s a privilege to drive something this strong. We can’t thank our partners enough for making it possible for us to be out there and for Tod (Quiring) to put forth the effort that he does.”

Lasoski opened Saturday night by setting quick time during qualifying in the Muddy sponsored sprint car. He then advanced from sixth to fifth place in a heat race to lock himself into the feature redraw, where he pulled the No. 6 to line up on the outside of the third row of the 25-lap main event.

“When I made the first lap in warm-ups I knew we had a contender,” he said. “The race track was different than I’ve seen in a long time. It was way rougher and stickier than normal. Anybody that started on the front would have an advantage because the bottom was so good.”

Lasoski maneuvered into third during a wild opening lap. He then advanced into second place near the midpoint of the feature before passing Wayne Johnson for the lead on Lap 16. Lasoski cruised during the closing laps to pick up his 102nd career feature victory at Knoxville Raceway.

“We knew that we had a really good team when we unloaded the first race in Chillicothe, Ohio, last year,” he said. “I knew that Guy (Forbrook) and the crew would do a great job. It’s great to see us get to Victory Lane so quickly.”

Big Game Motorsports kicked off last weekend on Friday at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb., where the race track had been inundated by a heavy storm the night before the FVP National Sprint League event.

“We want to take our hats off to everyone at Eagle for getting the race in,” Lasoski said. “They had like seven inches of rain on Thursday. For us to even get to race was a phenomenal feat.”

Lasoski qualified second quickest and advanced from sixth to fourth place in a heat race. That locked him into the feature redraw, where the No. 6 lined him up on the outside of the third row for the main event.

“The bottom was naturally faster because that’s where the rain goes,” he said. “(Brad Loyet) and (Brian Brown) started on the bottom and got to the lead first. We worked our way up to third, but just ended a couple of spots short.”

Lasoski drove the Muddy sponsored sprint car into third place as the top three entered traffic in the final laps.

“The last few laps I got beside the Brown and Loyet was there,” he said. “We went into turn one with a couple of laps to go and I got the air off my nose wing. That really hurt my progress. I don’t know what it was like for the fans, but it was awfully exciting from the cockpit.”

Lasoski finished third to mark his fifth top five in 10 races for Big Game Motorsports this season entering the event at Knoxville Raceway.

The team is heading into a three-race weekend starting Friday at Jacksonville Speedway in Jacksonville, Ill., with the FVP National Sprint League. Big Game Motorsports will then compete on Saturday at Knoxville Raceway and Sunday at Huset’s Speedway in Brandon, S.D.
