Bradford, VA — (May 30, 2015) — Adam Pierson won the USAC DMA Midget Car Series feature Saturday night at Bear Ridge Speedway. Josh Sunn, Dean Christiansen, Scott Holcomb, and Frank Malec rounded out the top five.

It was a night of first during the USAC Dirt Midget Association race at Bear Ridge Speedway with new teams racing for the first time and FMR Racing taking a 1-2 finish in the feature. It was also the first trip of the 2015 race season to the Vermont track for USAC Champion John Heydenreich who has over 500 wins in racing.

The first heat race of the night had the 18C of Mike Chaffee starting on the pole with the 47 driven by Scott Holcomb starting second. As the race went green, Holcomb in his 47 jumped out front to the point and had command of the race until the first yellow on lap three for the 50 of Vince Lucca who had mechanical issues. Back under green, Holcomb kept the lead with the 4 of Kevin Chaffee now taking second dropping Mike Chaffee in the 18C back to third. While the battle for the top spot was taking place, Adam Pierson in the 76M was charging forward and quickly moved into second as the 4 of Kevin Chaffee fell out of the race with mechanical problems. By lap ten and as the checkered flag waived, it was Scott Holcomb of North Granby, CT in the 47 taking the win followed by Adam Pierson of East Corinth, VT in the 76M for second and the 18C of Mike Chaffee who is from Corinth, VT rounding out the top three.

Heat race two started with the 96 of Rob Williams on the point with Chris Donnelly in the 17 starting second. Starting third in the number 5 was past USAC Champion John Heydenreich who is always a crowd favorite. With the green flag waving the 17 of Donnelly quickly took the lead with the 96 of Williams now second. By lap two Hydenreich in the 5 moved into second while the 17 of Donnelly was still leading and the 96 of Williams now back to third. At the half way point in the race, Hydenreich had taken over the point with Donnelly in the 17 now second and in third was the 7 of Seth Carlson who was racing for the first time this race season with the series. Hydenreich would hold the lead until lap eight when mechanical troubles would put the 5 off the track giving the race lead back to Donnelly in the 17 with Carlson in the 7 now second and the 21 driven by Barry Kittredge taking the third spot. The 96 of Williams was now dropping back with the handling of the racecar going away. Under the checkered flag it was the 17 of Chris Donnelly from Orford, VT winning followed by Seth Carlson of MA second and the 21 of Barry Kittredge from Marlboro, MA taking the third spot.

The Midget Dash race was quick with the 18C of Mike Chaffee starting in the pole position and the 47 of Scott Holcomb starting outside row one. Chaffee in the 18C had the lead until lap two when the 47 of Holcomb took over and never looked back. In the end is was Scott Holcomb in the 47 taking the win with the 18C of Mike Chaffee for second followed by Adam Pierson in his 76M for third. This was the North Granby, CT driver’s second Dash Race win of the season.

For the nights feature race the front row looked like the Dash Race front row with the 18C of Mike Chaffee on pole and the 47 of Scott Holcomb starting second. Unfortunately for the 5 of John Heydenreich, the mechanical issues he had in the heat race would prevent him from starting the nights feature. At the start of the race Chaffee in the 18C would hold the point for two laps until the 76M of Adam Pierson, who started fifth, took over the lead from Chaffee who was now back to second. The competitors ran three wide until lap five when the yellow came out for the 46 of Kenny Johnson dropping off into the infield. Back to green with the 76M of Pierson still leading followed by his teammate Josh Sunn in the 67 for second and the 18C of Chaffee in third. By the half way point in the race, the 76M of Pierson and 67 of Sunn had started to pull away from the field and battled for the top spot. The action behind the leaders was exciting for the fans with tight packs of racing and positions changing often during each lap. As the race began to unfold towards the end, the leaders had started to lap the field. In the end it was Adam Pierson in the 76M from East Corinth, VT taking the win followed by his FMR Racing teammate Josh Sunn from While River Junction, VT in the 67 for second and rounding out the top three was the 69 of Dean Christensen of Granby, CT in his Miller Racing midget.

The series will be back in action on June 13th at Bear Ridge Speedway in Bradford, Vermont.
