Haubstadt, IN – ()May 31, 2015) – The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series will be racing twice in the month of June. Both races will be at the Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana. The first event is the Tri-State Summer Showdown. The MSCS Sprints will participate along with the Summit Modifieds. The sprint car feature will pay 2,000 to win and the modified feature will pay $1,500 to win. The second race is not until June 27th.

Leading the cast of drivers expected to compete in the Summer Showdown is Brady Short. The 2011 MSCS season champion has taken over the series points lead. In winning the Josh Burton Memorial Race Memorial Day Weekend, Brady shot ahead of Carson Short in points. He maintained the lead during the remainder of the three race weekend. That lead stands at 38 points which is the widest margin so far this season.

MSCS has completed all eight races on the schedule so far this year.

Chase Stockon led the points following the first three stops. Carson Short led after the next two racing programs. Then Brady Short took over the top spot. The point margin between first and second places has been in the single digits three times and as close as two points.

Currently Carson Short leads Robert Ballou by a point for the runner-up honors in the standings and has assumed the role as the closest challenger for the title.

Jon Stanbrough is fourth in the MSCS season points followed by Kyle Cummins, Max McGhee, Dickie Gaines, Chase Stockon, James Lyerla, and Brandon Moran. Jeff Bland Jr. and Brandon Mattox round out the top twelve. The top twelve in points form the MSCS Provisional list.

Chris Babcock, Donny Brackett, and Shane Cockrum complete the top fifteen. The 12 remaining races this season allow plenty of chances for drivers to make substantial gains.

Winning feature races at the beginning of this season has been a real challenge. Two shows were held as co-sanctioned events and three others were held in a cooperative effort which required following the format used by another series.

The win column in the MSCS record book already lists six drivers this season. They are Chase Stockon, Bryan Clauson, Brady Bacon, Brady Short, Shane Cottle, and Thomas Meseraull. Short’s win at the end of April at Terre Haute has him competing at a winning pace. He has won every other race since then. His three victories makes him the only driver with multiple MSCS wins this year. Those wins also put him in sole possession of second place on the MSCS All Time Feature Wins List with 14.

The June 6th race will be a solo MSCS sanctioned event. Thus the show will be conducted using passing points. Drivers following the MSCS series will be back in familiar surroundings following the normal series format.

Racing will get underway at 7:30. Hot laps will be held an hour earlier. This is a Saturday night event with one of those traditional 25 lap sprint car features in which every lap and every move counts. More than 80 drivers have taken green flags at MSCS events this season. As drivers make decisions and chart their respective courses on a weekend, opportunities change and sometimes improve for others. Look for a field of eager opportunists at Tri-State Speedway on June 6th.
