KNOXVILLE, Iowa (June 23, 2015) – White Lightning Motorsports found Victory Lane for the fourth total time this season last Saturday at Knoxville Raceway, where Devin Kline powered to his third 305ci win of the year.

“The longer we get in the season things keep clicking,” he said. “The team is working real well. Everything is falling into place at about the right time. Here on out is where we want to make a name for ourselves and continue to do well.”

Kline, who ranks second in the championship standings, opened the event by qualifying third quickest. He then advanced from sixth to third place during a heat race to lock himself into the feature redraw, which resulted in Kline starting on the inside of the third row for the main event.

“We threw a few changes at the car and the car felt better than ever in the feature,” he said. “I was sitting in third when Matthew Stelzer blew up and then McKenna (Hasse) had her problems. I think we would have had a chance to win anyway. If you look at times we beat the track record by two tenths. We were coming there at the end. I think once the fuel load burned off we were a rocket.”

Kline inherited the lead at the midpoint of the race and he cruised to his fifth career victory at Knoxville Raceway.

Teammate Jamie Ball had a great start to the night in the 360ci class by qualifying third quickest. He then maneuvered from sixth to fourth place during a heat race to earn a spot in the feature redraw, which resulted in Ball starting fifth in the main event.

“I had a really good qualifying effort and made it through our heat race,” he said. “I got a bad start to the feature and was running sixth on a restart with a couple laps in. Then I lost my brakes and fell back to seventh. Coming out of turn four I hit the choppy part of the track and it snapped off part of our power steering pump. I did all I could do to keep it out of the wall and not get run over by the 15 guys behind me.”

Ball was unable to finish the event and he was credited with an 18th-place result.

“When we’ve had tough times we’ve been able to look at things positively,” he said. “I think we finally sorted out some of the issues and got a base setup at the start of the night. I think we’re heading in the right direction. We went back to basics and found a better balance for the car. It gives us a better starting point. We’re keeping it simple.”

White Lightning Motorsports will return to Knoxville Raceway this Saturday.
