Beginning Saturday night, June 27th,  in Placerville, CA, Justyn Cox and his Cox Racing team competed in eight races over a nine day period and a win at the Cottage Grove Speedway highlighted a really successful week for the team.

“I really felt like we hit our stride during Speedweek,” Cox said. “We hit a rough patch for a few nights at the midway point, but we put together some strong runs, and I was able to get a win at by far my favorite track, the Cottage Grove Speedway.”

Kicking his busy stretch off two Saturday’s ago in Placerville, CA, Cox would finish in the third spot, after hooking up in a race long battle with track point leader, Greg DeCaires.

Heading north to the Siskiyou Motor Speedway in Yreka, CA, Cox would time the Berco Redwood/Berry Lumber/Trex No. 31c machine in seventh fastest. Lining up in the second row of his heat race, Cox would race to the win and earn a spot in the night’s dash.

Finishing fifth in the dash, Cox would line up in the third row for the feature event, and worked into the fourth spot as the race reached the halfway point. Racing in dense lapped traffic, Cox would find himself pinched behind slower traffic at times, and finish in the fourth spot.

Heading into the state of Oregon on Monday night, Cox would take to the Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, OR where he would time in third quickest, and finish fifth in his heat race. On an extremely slick Southern Oregon Speedway, Cox would struggle to find grip in the main, as he finished 12th in the feature event.

Taking to the Coos Bay Speedway on Tuesday night, Cox got off to a great start as he set the standard in qualifying time trials. After finishing sixth in his heat race, Cox would again have a tough time in the feature event as he would fought his car on a narrow track as he finished 11th.

Taking Wednesday night off to travel to Central Oregon, Cox and company would invade the Willamette Speedway in Lebanon, OR on Thursday night where ‘JC’ timed in fifth fastest.

Following a fourth place finish in his heat race, Cox would finish in the fifth spot of the Dash, putting him in the third row of the feature event. Though he would slip back to finish in the eighth spot of the feature event, the Clarksburg, CA driver was pleased with how his car felt on this night as the end of the week brought on a two-day show at the Cottage Grove Speedway.

Timing in ninth fastest on Friday night, Cox would finish second in his heat race before finishing third in the night’s dash. Getting by Jayme Barnes on the fifth lap, Cox would then go to work race leader, Trey Starks.

In heavy traffic, the lead duo fought for real estate on the bottom of speedway, but in the closing stages of the race, the leader moved up top, and Cox took advantage as he took the lead with four laps to go. The last four laps saw Cox and Starks exchange the top spot numerous times, and the end result was Cox narrowly beating Starks to the checkered to score his first career win at the Cottage Grove Speedway.

Closing the week out on Saturday night, Cox would start the feature event in the 11th spot, and was able to race his way up to fifth. Battling with Colby Copeland over the final few laps for the fourth spot, Cox couldn’t get around him and closed his week out with a fifth place finish, and finished fifth overall in Speedweek points.

“It was an awesome week overall for us, and to win during Speedweek is a really cool feeling,” Cox added.  “We have been running really well the last few weeks and I am hoping we can pick up a few more wins as our schedule starts to get busy. I also have to thank Little Rod, Dan, Fez, my girlfriend, and Kalib Henry for all of their help.”

The Cox Racing team would like to thank Berco Redwood, Berry Lumber, Trex, PM Truck Repair, LRB, JRI Shocks, Konnected, Sacramento Theatrical Lighting, College Cyclery, JRD Endeavors, VSR, ART, Axcel Race Suits, SafRacer.Com, K&N Performance, Justice Brothers, Cheetah IV Racing, E-ST Garage, Worton Designs, Manzer Motorsports,  and Tim’s Hot Rod Shop for their support in 2015!
